The starting point is the object’s natural form, which has already been preserved. This is not viewed as a static specimen, but rather as a vessel of structure, presence, and history. Through deliberate interventions—particularly in the form of precise color compositions and material refinements—the object is detached from its original function and redefined.
Opulent Relicts
Orwell Oglibies' works are based on the deliberate transformation of taxidermy specimens into a contemporary art context.
The goal is to create a space of tension between nature and artistic presentation. The works navigate the spectrum between naturalness and artificiality, between minimalism and opulence. This gives rise to a new visual language in which the animal is not reproduced but interpreted.
Under the “Opulent Relicts” style, autonomous art objects are created that do not document but rather transform. Each work is conceived as a unique piece and is intended as a deliberate intervention in perception, materiality, and spatial effect.
